Low Pressure: Heavy Rains To Lash Odisha From Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha will receive heavy rainfall from Tuesday under the influence of a low-pressure, which is most likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood in the next 48 hours.

The Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department in its mid-day bulletin on Monday said, while a monsoon trough stretches from Ganganagar to the north-east Bay of Bengal, a cyclonic circulation lies over the north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood with a southward tilt. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around July 28.

The system will trigger heavy rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha from the afternoon on July 27 and continue till the morning on July 31, the bulletin added.

In view of the heavy rainfall, yellow warning has been issued for the following districts.

July 26
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Khurda, Puri, Boudh and Nayagarh.

July 27
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore,  Jajpur and Bhadrak.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh and Sonepur.

July 28
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Dhenkanal.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul,  Deogarh, Sundargarh and Sambalpur.

July 29
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bargarh and Dhenkanal.

July 30
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Keonjhar.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and  Angul.
