Fresh Low Pressure Intensifies, Set To Turn Into Depression In 6 Hours; What It Means For Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low pressure area formed over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The low pressure area has concentrated into a well-marked low pressure area. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

The system is currently moving in a west-north-westward direction. It is expected to intensify further into a depression over the same region during the next six hours.

Thereafter, while maintaining its direction of movement, the system is likely to intensify further and come close to the Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal by the evening of November 2.

The weather agency is yet to provide any clear information on the possible impact of the system on Odisha. The IMD is continuously monitoring the system’s progress and will issue further updates as it evolves.

Residents along the Andhra Pradesh and nearby coastal areas have been advised to stay alert and follow official weather advisories.
