Low Pressure Likely Over Bay In Next 72 Hours; Odisha To Receive Heavy Rainfall From Today

Bhubaneswar: The subdued south-west monsoon in Odisha has become active and widespread rainfall across the state with the isolated heavy rainfall at one or two places is likely from Sunday afternoon.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a mid-day bulletin said a cyclonic circulation over the north coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood is most likely to concentrate into a low-pressure area over the north-west Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood within 72 hours.

Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall in some districts in the south, north and western regions for three days till July 20 and over the coastal districts from July 21. Apart from this, there will be light to moderate rain and thundershower in most parts of the state which will continue till July 22.

In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts:

July 18
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Nuapada, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Kandhamal and Deogarh.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Kandhamal.

July 19
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Balasore, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

July 20
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

July 21
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Deogarh and Sambalpur.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak,  Dhenkanal, Angul, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Boudh.

July 22
Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places in Bhadrak, Balasore, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur and Boudh.
