Low Pressure Off Odisha Coast Most Likely In Next Five Days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecast that Odisha will receive more rainfall in next four days as a low-pressure area is most likely to form over the Bay of Bengal.

The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, in an afternoon forecast said going by the modular study, a low-pressure area is most likely to form over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coasts around July 11.

Under its influence, most parts of south Odisha districts will receive heavy rainfall from the afternoon of July 10.

Besides, the IMD, has said a trough from northwest Bihar to north-east Bay of Bengal across Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh and another trough from north Bihar to north coastal Andhra Pradesh across Jharkhand and interior Odisha will make the condition favourable for the formation of the low-pressure area.

The IMD has also said due to the presence of two trough lines, there will be thundershower with isolated heavy rainfall at one or two places across the state in next 24 hours which will continue till July 10.

The four-day weather forecast by the IMD with yellow warning is as follows:

July 7
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh,  Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur.

July 8
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir and Cuttack.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Balangir and Nuapada.

July 9
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Nabarangpur.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh,  Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Cuttack.

July 10
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Nuapada, Rayagada.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.
