Low Pressure Over Andaman Sea In Next 24 Hours: IMD

Bhubaneswar: With a low pressure set to form over the Andaman Sea in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued ‘yellow’ warning, resulting in widespread rainfall in Odisha.

The IMD, in a mid-day bulletin said a cyclonic circulation, lying over the south Andaman Sea and neighbourhood, will develop into a low pressure during next 24 hours. It is likely to become more marked and concentrate into a depression over Andaman Sea and neighbourhood during the subsequent 48 hours and likely to intensify further thereafter and move north-northwest  during the initial three days and north-northeast towards Myanmar coast thereafter.

Under its influence, there will be thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in some parts of coastal, south and interior districts.

In view of the weather condition, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.

May 1
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the  districts of north coastal Odisha,  Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Khurda.

May 2
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur and Ganjam.

May 3
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Kandhamal,  Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

May 4
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the  districts of  Balangir, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapara.
