Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to be lashed by heavy rain accompanied by gusty wind for the next two days under the influence of a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
In a bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said that the low-pressure area now lies over northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coast.
Under its influence, squally weather with gusty surface windspeed reaching 40-50kmph is likely to prevail off Odisha coast till July 1. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast, north-west Bay of Bengal.
It said light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely to occur at most places in the state up to July 7.
The weather agency issued yellow warning of heavy rain at some places of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places of Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts in the next 24 hours.
Yellow warning was also sounded for heavy rain at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts on Sunday.
