Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain for five days from Tuesday with a low pressure area, brewing over Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Coastal Odisha. Under its influence, a low pressure area likely to form northwest Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours,” it said.
Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph is likely along & off Odisha coast, northwest adjoining West central Bay of Bengal from July 20-22 under the influence of strong monsoon flow and anticipated low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along & off Odisha coast, Northwest adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal during this period.
The weather agency has forecast heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi till 8.30 am on Wednesday. Heavy rain is also likely at some places in Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri during this period.
On July 19, heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada,
Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Angul.
Orange warning for heavy to very heavy rain resumes on July 20 and the districts which are likely to be affected are Puri,
Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur and Bargarh. Heavy Rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Ganjam, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Deogarh.
On July 21, Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul and Balangir. Heavy Rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh districts.
Heavy to very heavy rain is expected to lash one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh,
Jharsuguda and Sambalpur on July 22. There is also a forecast for heavy rain at one or two in Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
There will be little change in the weather condition in the subsequent two days, the MeT office added.
Light to moderate rain may also occur in South, North, South Interior, Interior and Coastal Odisha on these five days.

>> Temporary water-logging likely in low lying areas.
>> Poor visibility during intense spells of rain and traffic congestion in urban areas.
>> Possibility of wall collapse of vulnerable kutcha houses and some damages of kutchha road. Avoid staying in vulnerable houses.
>> Possibility of landslides in vulnerable hilly areas (Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal).
The IMD further said that some districts may witness flood-like situation due to heavy to very heavy rainfall.
