Bhubaneswar: With a low-pressure area most likely to form over the west-central Bay of Bengal around September 13, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued thundershower and heavy rainfall warning for south coastal and interior Odisha.
In a mid-day bulletin, the IMD said that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood, a low-pressure area is most likely to form over the west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast around September 13, which will trigger heavy rainfall in south coastal and interior districts. The rainfall activity will continue till September 13.
In view of heavy rainfall thundershower, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts
September 9
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada and Kandhamal.
September 10
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Nuapada and Angul.
September 11
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Puri, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
September 12
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Nabarangpur.
September 13
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Ganjam.
