Low Pressure Over Bay Of Bengal Likely To Trigger Heavy Rainfall In Odisha From July 10

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said most parts of Odisha will receive isolated heavy rainfall under the influence of a low-pressure area which is most likely to form over the Bay of Bengal in next 72 hours.

The national weather agency, in a mid-day bulletin, said a cyclonic circulation over the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal is most likely to concentrate into a low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh­ and south Odisha coasts in the next 72 hours around July 11.

Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall at one or two places in the south coastal districts of Odisha from the afternoon of July 10 and continue for three days till July 13.

Apart from this, a trough from Punjab to north-west Bay of Bengal across Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, southwest Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal will trigger heavy rainfall and thundershower at one or two places in the interior and coastal districts, the bulletin said.

In view of the changing weather conditions, IMD has issued a five-day yellow warning for the following districts:

July 8
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sonepur and Balangir.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri.

July 9
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Sundargarh.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

July 10
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Puri.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore and Mayurbhanj.

July 11
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.

July 12
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur and Mayurbhanj.
