Bhubaneswar: With a low-pressure area all set to form over the Bay of Bengal within 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued yellow warnings for heavy rainfall in Odisha.
The IMD in a mid-day bulletin said that the cyclonic circulation lying over north and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal with a tilt towards the south-west is all set to form a low-pressure over the north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal within 24 hours.
“Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall in most parts of the southern districts from Sunday afternoon. As the low pressure will gradually move in the north-west direction in the subsequent 24 hours, there will be heavy rainfall in the coastal and interior districts,” the bulletin said, adding that the rainfall activity will continue for three days till September 7.
Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the deep sea of the north and adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast on September 6 and 7 as the surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely to make the sea condition rough to very rough.
