Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon will advance into most parts of Odisha under the influence of a low pressure area that is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on June 11, the Indian Meteorological Department predicted on Friday.
The IMD also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Balasore districts in the next 24 hours.
It further said several parts of Odisha will experience rain and thunderstorm till June 9. However, there will be no large change in day temperature over the districts of Odisha during the next 4-5 days, it added.
Monsoon Status
As of Friday, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of south Arabian Sea, some parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Lakshadweep and Kerala, most parts of Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, some parts of North Interior Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, and some more parts of Tamil Nadu.
Similarly, the monsoon has also touched remaining parts of Southwest Bay of Bengal and some parts of West-Central and some more parts of East-Central Bay of Bengal, the IMD said.
