Low Pressure To Trigger More Rain In Odisha For 3 Days; Orange Warning Till Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain is likely to occur in some places in 17 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours due to the low pressure area over south Jharkhand and its neighbourhood.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an orange warning for the next 24 hours and yellow warning for two days thereafter.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said that the low pressure area over south Jharkhand and neighbourhood now lies over southwest Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north Odisha, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, and at many places of rest districts of Odisha.

Issuing an orange warning, the IMD said heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Angul up to Tuesday morning.

The MeT Centre also issued yellow warning and said heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balangir, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Cuttack, and Sundargarh during the period.

Similarly, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Jajpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Balangir, Sonepur, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda on Tuesday and Wednesday.
