Bhubaneswar: The low pressure over northwest adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha till September 21, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
“The system is likely to move northwestwards towards Odisha coast and become more marked during next 24 hours,” it added.
Till 8.30 am on September 20, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is likely at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur and Koraput. Yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) has also been issued for one or two places in Gajapati, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Khordha, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Balangir and Bargarh during this period.

Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph is likely over deep sea areas of northwest adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal on September 19 and along and off Odisha coast and northwest adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal on September 20. Fishermen have been advised against venturing into deep sea areas.
