Dhenkanal: A family had a narrow escape as an LPG cylinder exploded blowing away the roof of their house in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident took place in Ambapalas village under Parjang police station of the district in the afternoon. While the wife of Subash Mohapatra, a villager, was cooking in the kitchen of their house, they smelt gas leaking from the LPG cylinder.
Soon after they rushed out of the house, the cylinder exploded with a loud sound. On the impact of the explosion, the asbestos roof of the house was blown away while the walls collapsed.
The household articles were also badly damaged due to the blast. However, none of the family members was injured in the incident, the sources said.
On being informed, a team from Parjang police station went to the village and started investigation.
