Bhubaneswar: A truck carrying LPG gas cylinders overturned at Bamphakud village near Phulnakhara on Cuttack- Bhubaneswar national highway around 6 am on Saturday.
The incident took place while the vehicle was on its way to Kendrapada from Jatni plant.
According to sources, around 300 cylinders toppled out of the truck as the driver lost control over the vehicle, but there was no gas leakage. It also hit a cabin and an electric pole.
The driver and an attendant escaped unhurt.
The electric supply in the area, however, was disrupted due to damage to the pole. “Repair work is underway on a war footing. Power supply in the area will be restored shortly,” a staffer of the electricity department told a local news channel.
Police have begun an investigation into the incident.
