Bhubaneswar: The hike in the price of 14.2 kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder by another Rs 25, which was effective from Thursday, was the third time the price was raised in the month.
In February alone, the price of such cylinders surged by Rs 100 and in the last two months, the price increased by Rs 200. The cost of each cylinder is currently Rs 820.50 after it was raised for the third time. The cylinders were priced at Rs 795.50 here till the last increase.
The first time it was increased by Rs 25 on February 4, then it was raised by Rs 50 on February 15 and on Thursday it was increased by Rs 25 for the third time.
The new price of 14.2 kg cylinders in Kolkata is Rs 820 (Rs 795), the highest among the four metro cities. In Mumbai, the cylinder now costs Rs 794 (Rs 769.00), and in Chennai it is Rs 810 (Rs 785.00). The cylinders are priced at Rs 846.50 (Rs 821.50) in Hyderabad.
