LPG Gas Pipeline Ruptures During Construction In Cuttack CDA Sector-9



Cuttack: An LPG gas pipeline, belonging to GAIL (India) Limited, burst at CDA Sector-9 in Cuttack on Monday after being accidentally damaged during a construction work.

According to sources, the accident occurred while heavy machinery was being used for ongoing construction work in CDA Sector-9. During excavation, the equipment struck the underground pipeline, causing a sudden rupture and leak

age of LPG gas. Residents reported a strong smell of gas in the area and immediately alerted authorities.

Fire Services teams rushed to the spot along with officials from GAIL India, who took up repair work to contain the leak and seal the rupture after cordoning off the area and evacuating homes and shops as a safety measure. The authorities confirmed that the situation was brought under control and that no casualties or property damage were reported. Efforts are continuing to fully restore safety in the locality. 


Eyewitnesses described terrifying scenes as the gas plume shot up to 50 feet into the air and reiterated that it could have led to a major disaster. Local residents have demanded an immediate investigation into the matter as construction work is prohibited in the area.
