Bhubaneswar: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced Anjani Soren as its candidate for Lok Sabha elections from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj constituency.
Anjani is the daughter of former chief minister of Jharkhand Shibu Soren. She will contest against BJP’s Naba Charan Majhi and BJD’s Sudam Marndi, both senior leaders from the constituency.
Mayurbhanj holds special significance in the elections as it is the home district of President Droupadi Murmu. Besides, the BJP dropped sitting MP and Union Minister Bisweswar Tudu to nominate Majhi this time.
While Tudu was elected from the constituency in 2019, BJDs Ramchandra Hansda was victorious in 2014 general elections.
