Lucknow Building Collapse Toll Climbs To 8, Rescue Operation Underway

Lucknow: The death toll in the Lucknow building collapse has increased to eight as rescue operations continued on Sunday morning. The rescue teams recovered three more bodies from the debris, said officials, according to reports.

A three-storey building, which housed warehouses and a motor workshop, had collapsed on Saturday evening at in Transport Nagar. At least 28 people have been injured.

The three recovered bodies were identified as Raj Kishore (27), Rudra Yadav (24), and Jagrup Singh (35), Relief Commissioner of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), G S Naveen, told the ANI.

According to reports, the rescue team was focussing on ensuring that no one was trapped under the rubble. The building was built around four years ago. Some construction work was underway at the time of the collapse, police told the News 18. Most of the victims were working on the ground floor when the building collapsed.

The injured were undergoing treatment at various hospitals, including Lok Bandhu Hospital, in the district. The rescue work is still under process.

“A committee will be formed which will investigate the reasons for the collapse of the building,” Joint CP (Law and Order), Amit Verma told the ANI.
