Bhubaneswar: The first luxury houseboat, Garuda, has begun sailing in Chilika Lake from Barkul, about 90 km from Bhubaneswar, after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated it last month.
The cruise is providing a five-star experience to the visitors with two suites and four premium rooms and a bar-restaurant. besides an open-air lobby on the upper deck for meetings/conferences. There is also a small swimming pool for children.
Till August 15, visitors will be charged Rs 14,000 instead of Rs 18,000 for 24 hours while a suite will cost Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 25,000. The package for two persons includes lunch, hi-tea, dinner and breakfast.
A family or a group of 2o people can now book the entire luxury boat for Rs 90,000 instead of 1.25 lakh for 24 hours.
The check-in time will be 12 noon and the checkout time will be 9.30 am the next day.
The luxury houseboat, which has been indigenously designed, developed and manufactured at Barkul with an investment of more than Rs 3 crore, is an initiative of Vikas Eco Resorts.
