Puri: The temple of Mahalaxmi on the premises of Srimandir in Odisha’s Puri will undergo repairs for leakages from March.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will carry out the repair for leakages.
The decision was taken at a meeting at Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office here.
A 10-member special committee will prepare a list after visiting the temple everyday and progress work will be assessed every Tuesday.
“We had written to the ASI regarding leakages in the Mahalakshmi and Bimala temples’ roof on Srimandir complex. The ASI is going to start the repair work from March first week,” said SJTA Development Administrator Ajay Kumar Jena.
However, a decision on repairing other temples of ancillary deities at the Jagannath Temple has not been taken yet, he added. The repair work of Meghanada Prachir of Shree Jagannath temple is likely to be completed by June or July.
Plans are also on the anvil to install LED display board either at Satapahacha (seven-stair) or Singhadwar urging the devotees for donation.
He also informed that Srimandir administration has paid Rs 80 lakh to State Police Housing Corporation to reinstall the CCTV cameras damaged in cyclone Fani.
