Budaun (UP): A girl who was denied admission to a government school in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun because of an unusual name in her Aadhaar card has finally got a seat in the school following the intervention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office.
A picture of the Aadhaar card, showing the girl’s name as ‘Madhu ka Panchwa Baccha’ or ‘Baby Five Of Madhu’, went viral. It caught the attention of CMO, which didn’t take long to issue a directive to the school authorities.
The child has been admitted to Class 1 under the name of Aarti, according to her parent’s wishes, ANI reported. Her Aadhaar card has been sent for correction.
“I went to a government school to get my daughter enrolled. The teacher made fun of the name mentioned on my daughter’s Aadhaar card as it said she is my fifth child and did not admit her there on March 2,” the girl’s mother Madhu was quoted as saying.
Aarti’s father said since he was illiterate, he did not know the girl’s name had been miswritten on Aadhaar card.
Budaun district magistrate Deepa Ranjan has ordered an inquiry.
