Maha Govt Urges Bombay HC To Dismiss Plea Seeking Removal Of Kangana’s Twitter Account

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government, which was in war with actress Kangana Ranaut post-Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, has suddenly changed its track now.

According to a report in Indian Express, the Maha govt took Kangana’s side for the first time and urged the Bombay High Court to dismiss a plea seeking suspension of the actress’ Twitter account.

The government on Thursday said that the petition which seeks removal of Kangana’s Twitter account was not maintainable.

Government lawyer Y P Yagnik said that the relief sought by petitioner Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh was “vague”, and thus, it should be dismissed.

Petitioner Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh is a city-based lawyer, who filed a plea in the HC seeking suspension of Kangana’s Twitter account stating that it was “spreading hatred in the country”.

“She (Ranaut) has multiple FIRs pending against her. In the past, she has misused the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput for her own gains and she is doing so now with farmers’ protest too,” said Deshmukh in his plea.

However, government lawyer Yagnik argued that Kangana’s tweet caused no harm to him and thus, it cannot be considered as a PIL.

“This is a very vague petition. Twitter is an international body. One can not seek vague reliefs like these. This plea is not maintainable and should be disposed of,” said Yagnik

The court directed Deshmukh to “ponder” over the issue and scheduled the next hearing on December 21.
