Prayagraj: Police in Prayagraj are on high alert after a threat was issued on social media to carry out a blast at Maha Kumbh.
An FIR has been filed against the person who issued the bomb threat on social media platform X even as joint teams of Mela police and cyber crime department are tracking the post to identify the culprit.
The bomb threat targets 1,000 Hindus, saying they are ‘criminals’.
The post was shared by a user named Vipin Gaur, who tagged Dial 112 and Uttar Pradesh Police while sharing the screenshot of the threat.
Police are on high alert to ensure fullproof security for one of the world’s most highly attended events over weeks.
Authorities are investigating the mobile number and email ID associated with the profile.
It’s a serious security concern, and every detail is being scrutinised.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025. It will bring together millions of devotees who will take a dip at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.
This is not the first threat for Maha Kumbh 2025. Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Pannun last week threatened to disrupt the congregation through a video message.
The sacred bathing dates of Magh Mela are January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami) and February 26 (Mahashivratri).
