Bhubaneswar: Representatives of 13 political parties, excluding BJP, participated in a demonstration staged by Mahanadi Banchao Andolan before Raj Bhawan here on Tuesday.
“We condemn the dilly-dallying attitude of the Central Government in constituting a Tribunal to sort out the longstanding water sharing dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments. The Centre is disrespecting the Indian Constitution by not setting up an inter-state Tribunal”, Mahanadi Banchao Andolan convenor Sudarshan Das said.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to Governor Dr SC Jamir seeking his
immediate intervention to resolve the issue.
Earlier on November 26, the all-party meeting convened by Mahanadi Banchao Andolan decided to raise the issue regarding unilateral construction of dams and barrages on Mahanadi river by Chhattisgarh government in the state assembly and in the Parliament.
