Cuttack: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Salepur, on Saturday expressed displeasure over investigation in the Mahanga double murder case. The court asked police to submit call detail records (CDRs) of three persons linked with case.
The JMFC has sought CDR of Law Minister Pratap Jena’s assistant Bapi Biswal, Block chairman Sharat Naik and late Prafulla Biswal, informed Pravin Kanungo, counsel of petitioner Ramakant Baral (son of deceased BJP leader Kulamani Baral).
Kulamani, former block chairman of Mahanga, and his associate Dibyasingha Baral were killed on January 2.
In August, the court had directed Mahanga police to conduct a fresh investigation into the double murder case. The reinvestigation was ordered as Law Minister’s name was not mentioned in the chargesheet by the police though the petitioner had levelled accusations against him.
While hearing a protest petition filed by Ramakant Barala, the court has asked the police for the fresh probe into the Mahanga double murder case.
