Cuttack: Hundreds of BJP workers led by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Friday gheraoed the DGP office here demanding arrest of minister Pratap Jena for his alleged involvement in the murder of two party workers in Mahanga of the district recently.
The BJP workers took out a rally from Matamath Chhak to the DGP office raising slogans against the state government and demanding justice for the slain leaders. A minor scuffle ensued between the protestors and police as the former tried to enter the office premises.
After the agitated BJP workers were pacified, a team of party leaders went inside and held a meeting with the DGP. As the meeting continued for over three hours, the leaders and workers of the party outside continued to raise slogans demanding arrest of the minister, party sources said.
Coming out of the meeting, the BJP leaders including Sarangi, state president Sameer Mohanty and senior leader Kanak Bardhan Singhdeo told the mediapersons that they had submitted a memorandum to the DGP demanding completion of investigation into the case in 10 days.
