Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to display the rate chart of Mahaprasad at Ananda Bazar of the 12th century shrine in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri.
According to sources, the decision was taken at a disciplinary committee meeting chaired by SJTA’s chief administrator Ranjan Kumar Das at the temple office.
The meeting was reportedly attended by delegates from Suara Mahasuara Nijog, members of the temple Managing Committee, and district police.
Apart from displaying the rate chart, steps will be taken to establish a help desk at Ananda Bazar, remove polythene sheets, install sheds, and provide drinking water facilities for the devotees at Ananda Bazar on the premises of the Jagannath temple.
The non-‘suaras’ will be identified for the convenience of the devotees, said reports. The Committee also resolved to have Mahasuara Nijog serve Mahaprasad at Uttaradwara.
The committee also decided to make available Mahaprasad at Uttaradwara of the temple by Mahasuara Nijog.
This will ensure smooth sale of Mahaprasad and the devotees will be able to get a hygienic atmosphere, according to president of Suara Mahasuara Nijog, Padmanabha Mahasuara,
It may be noted here that in order to prevent harassment of the devotees inside the temple, Suar Mahasuar Nijog had recently written to the SJTA seeking strict action against non-servitors selling Mahaprasad.
The Nijog, in its letter to chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri SP, temple supervisor and security officer, has stated that though only Supakar servitors are allowed to sell the Mahaprasad (cooked prasad) at Ananda Bazaar in the temple, some non-Supakar servitors have been found engaged in the sale.
