Bhubaneswar: A driver had a close shave after the ‘Mahaprayan’ hearse, which he was driving, plunged into a river near Telimunda Chhak under Phiringia block in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Saturday.
According to sources, the accident took place when the driver lost control over the vehicle while on his way back after dropping a body from Phulbani district headquarters hospital at Bataguda village in Baluguda block. A person, who was taking bath in the river, rescued the driver, who was then rushed to Phiringia community health centre in an ambulance.
Police have seized the vehicle and initiated an investigation.
