‘No Ambulance’: Two Bodies Carried For 2 Km In Odisha’s Sonepur

Sonepur: Relatives carried bodies of two people on a stretcher and over their shoulders for 2km on the Binika-Sonepur road on Friday night to reach Binika hospital for post-mortem.

Sources said two people died on the spot in a road accident at Cherupali square under Binika block on Friday afternoon. Irate residents then blocked the Sonepur-Binika road, demanding compensation for the next of kin of the dead. On being informed, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

But sources said no ambulance was available under the Mahaprayan scheme at the hospital in Sonepur. So relatives had to carry the bodies to the hospital themselves.
