Mumbai: The decision regarding the imposition of another lockdown in Maharashtra will be made after April 14, state health minister Rajesh Tope said on Sunday.
Tope was talking to reporters after a virtual meeting of the COVID Task Force, chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, to discuss measures. The matter of imposition of another lockdown in the state to break the virus chain was also discussed.
“Duration of the lockdown and how to handle its economic fallout was discussed during today’s meeting. The task force is of the view that the prevailing coronavirus situation in the state is such that a lockdown is required,” the minister said.
“In a meeting with the State Task Force, the chief minister discussed the availability of oxygen & beds, use of Remdesivir, treatment protocols, increase in capacity of facilities, imposition of restrictions & fines for violating COVID protocols,” Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) tweeted.
Meanwhile, 10,15,95,147 vaccine doses have been administered in the country via 15,17,963 sessions so far, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry said on Sunday.
A rough calculation shows that it may take 1,156 days (over three years) to inoculate each eligible Indian.
