Maharashtra Crisis: No Stay On Tomorrow’s Floor Test, Rules Supreme Court

New Delhi: In a big setback to Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, Supreme Court ruled that there will be no stay on the conduct of floor test in the state assembly on June 30.

The Maharashtra government had moved the apex court, challenging Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s order asking the CM to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly on Thursday.

A vacation bench of Supreme Court, headed by Justice Surya Kant and also comprising JB Pardiwala, heard all sides for four hours, well past normal court hours, before delivering its verdict.

The issue of disqualification of 15 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs was not taken up today.

Going by claims of Eknath Shinde, the leader of Shiv Sena rebels, it’s almost certain that Uddhav won’t have the numbers to prove his majority tomorrow.
