Salepur: Panchayati Raj minister Pradeep Maharathy suspended two officials during his maiden visit to Salepur block office in Cuttack on Tuesday after assuming office post ministry reshuffle.
The minister found several employees missing from their desk during the spot visit. He also examined the files and documents at the office.
“I enquired about absence of employees and ordered immediate suspension of assistant block development officer Prasanna Mallick and accountant Bharati Priyadarshini for dereliction of duty, besides issuing show-cause notices to eight other officials including the block development officer,” the minister said.
On May 10, health minister Pratap Jena had paid a surprise visit to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and reviewed the health care services there. After visiting various wards of the hospital, he found some doctors missing. The minister directed the officials concerned to keep tabs on such doctors.
