Mumbai: Filmmaker brothers, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt on Monday filed a defamation case against actress Luviena Lodh in the Bombay High Court for making false allegations against them.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the Bhatts have also sought a compensation of Rs 1 crore from Luviena, who alleged that the veteran filmmakers run a drug racket in Bollywood.
A single bench of Justice A K Menon took up the case for urgent hearing on Monday and directed the actress to file a reply soon. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled after three weeks.
The suit filed by the Bhatts also claimed that Sumit Sabharwal, Luviena’s estranged husband, was not directly related to them.
Luviena has made false allegations against Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt with an intention to obtain an out of court settlement in her divorce case with her husband, claimed the suit.
Meanwhile, Luviena’s lawyer assured the HC that his client won’t be publishing or make any derogatory statements against the Bhatts till the next hearing in the case.
Last week, Luviena had posted a video on her Instagram handle in which she alleged that Mahesh Bhatt was the don of Bollywood and ran the drug racket in the industry. Her husband Sumit was also a part of the drug nexus, she said.
