Mumbai: Raving reactions seem to have converted to sales as Mahindra’s new Thar has received over 9,000 bookings within a few days of its launch.
Launched on October 2, there have been over 36,000 enquiries and more than 3.3 lakh visitors to the site, Mahindra said.
Test drives are currently available in 18 cities and 100 more cities will be added by October 10. Test drives will be available throughout the country by October 15.
The prices of the new Thar start at Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Here are the complete prices:

It is available with either a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mStallion petrol that makes 150 BHP power and 320 Nm torque or a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that makes 130 BHP power and 320 Nm torque. There’s a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission as options for both engines. Four-wheel drive with a manual shift transfer case is standard across the range.
It has an independent front suspension and a multi-link rear set-up, along with Shift-on-the-Fly 4×4, a mechanical locking differential, brake locking differential and electromechanical driveline disconnect.
Mahindra will deliver the new Thar starting on November 1.
