New Delhi: Eminent lawyer and special public prosecutor in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case, Ujjwal Nikam, who was recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha, shared a lighthearted and memorable moment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his nomination.
Nikam recalled, while speaking to ANI, receiving a personal phone call from the Prime Minister, who began the conversation in Marathi before pausing and asking with a smile, “Mai Marathi bolun ki Hindi?” (Should I speak in Marathi or Hindi?).
“I started laughing over the tone in which he said it,” Nikam recounted, cherishing the warmth and personal touch the Prime Minister brought to the conversation.
A Proud Moment For Nikam
Ujjwal Nikam, one of the country’s most distinguished public prosecutors, said that PM Modi then switched to Marathi and informed him about the President’s decision to nominate him to the Rajya Sabha.
“He told me that the President wants to give me a responsibility,” Nikam said. “I immediately said yes.”
Expressing his gratitude, Nikam thanked the President, the Prime Minister, and the party leadership for the honour. “It’s a proud moment for me. I assure that I will discharge my duties as a Rajya Sabha member truly and honestly,” he added.
