Jagatsinghpur: Five days after loot of money from a donation box at Maa Sarala Temple in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, the main accused in the case was arrested by the police.
The main accused, identified as Rusa Mohanty of Keonjhar district, was arrested after a thorough investigation, examination of CCTV footage and interrogation of several people.
An amount of over Rs 1.85 lakh was also seized from the accused and further investigation is underway, a senior police official said.
It may be noted here that miscreants had looted money from donation box at Maa Sarala Temple on the night of December 13.
Initially, three persons had been detained for questioning on basis of CCTV cameras installed at the temple and the cutter used for breaking open the box has also been seized.
Some portions of the boundary wall of temple were demolished for beautification work under the 5T initiative of the state government. The miscreants took advantage of the situation and carried out the loot between 1 am and 2 am.
