Bhubaneswar: Bus stands in smart cities will be developed with hi-tech amenities for the passengers, said Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena on Wednesday.
Addressing the opening session of the two-day workshop organized by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) here, he said efforts are on to develop the infrastructure of all bus stands in the state. “The government is planning to develop bus stands in the smart cities with all modern amenities that are available in the airports. There will be shopping malls and multiplexes at major bus stands,” he said.
Managing Director, CRUT, Arun Bothra said that 200 Mo Buses are currently running in Bhubaneswar and another 189, including 50 electric buses, will be added to the fleet by April this year.
He further said that the bus service run by the state-owned Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) will be developed on the lines of Mo Bus transport.
The OSRTC and Mo Bus staff are being imparted training by experts in the two-day workshop, which will conclude on Thursday, he added.
