Dhenkanal: A major fire was averted at a power grid station of the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (OPTCL) at Kantabania in Dhenkanal district on Sunday.
Sources said the incident took place around 10.30 am when fire broke out in a high-transmission power cable in one unit of the grid.
However, the staff on duty immediately alerted the fire safety personnel of the Tata Steel BSL plant. The fire was doused within half an hour.
This is the second incident this month after a short-circuit in the feeder unit of the power grid that took place on February 21.
