Rourkela: PVC pipes worth around Rs 10 lakh were gutted in a major fire at the parade ground in the city’s Udit Nagar area on Thursday.
No one was injured in the mishap that occurred when PVC pipes stacked on the ground caught fire. It took Fire Service personnel two hours to douse the blaze.
Fire Service sources said they suspected that some anti-socials were behind the incident. However, the exact cause can be ascertained after a thorough probe, they added.
Later, Rourkela SP K Siva Subramani, RMC Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida, and other officials reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
