Sambalpur: A major fire broke out in Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday evening.
According to sources, the fire broke out in MRU of Pharmacology department in the institute campus. On being informed by the medical authorities, Fire Brigade from Burla and Sambalpur rushed to the spot and were engaged in extinguishing the inferno.
Though nobody was injured in the incident, costly medical equipment worth crores of rupees and document were reportedly damaged in the fire.
The cause of fire has not been ascertained as the Fire personnel were still engaged in controlling it. But it is suspected that it might be sparked off by short circuit in electrical connections.
