Bhadrak: Warehouse of a musical band was reduced to ashes in a massive fire in Bhandaripokhai area of Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
Expensive musical instruments, sound systems, DG sets and other event equipment worth several crores were gutted in the blaze that occurred late on Friday night at Maninathpur under the jurisdiction of Bhandaripokhari police station, sources said on Saturday.
While no injury to anyone w
as reported, the incident caused extensive damage to the godown and the equipment stored therein. The exact loss is yet to be officially assessed.
Locals said the fire erupted at the godown of Ajay Musical at around 10 pm. Fire service department was immediately informed after flames and thick smoke coming out of the warehouse were noticed.
By the time firefighters reached the spot, the blaze had already spread through a major portion of the structure. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly two to three hours before bringing the situation under control.
According to locals, the godown housed a large stock of equipment used for weddings, cultural programmes and other events across the region. Most of the materials stored inside were completely gutted before the fire could be brought under control.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be established, an electric short circuit was suspected to have triggered the blaze. Fire Services personnel and local authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident.
