Boudh: Medicines and electrical appliances worth lakhs of rupees were gutted when a major fire broke out late on Wednesday at the medicine godown of district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Odisha’s Boudh town.
According to sources, hospital staff living in the government quarters saw smoke billowing out of the godown and raised an alarm. A team of Fire Service personnel soon reached the spot. But by the time the firemen brought the blaze under control, medicines electrical appliances, including air conditioner and deep freezer, were reduced to ashes, sources said.
A short circuit inside the godown is suspected to have caused the fire. A fire department official told the media that the real reason can be ascertained only after a probe.
The hospital authorities, however, refused to comment on the incident.
