Bhubaneswar: The iconic Kalinga Stadium is all set to host the 62nd National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships here from June 15.
Athletes from Maldives and Sri Lanka will feature in the five-day meet. Teams from the two countries arrived at the temple city on Wednesday.
They will compete with Indian athletics in this important championship, which will serve as the final selection trials for the Asian Games to be held in China’s Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8.
Apart for Olympic gold-medallist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and steeplechase champion Avinash Sable, who have already qualified for the Asian Games, most of the other top Indian athletes will be in action at the meet being organised by Department of Sports and Youth Services, Odisha government.
They include the likes of women’s 100m hurdles national record-holder Jyothi Yarraji, men’s 100m national record-holder Amiya Mallick, women’s 400m U-20 Asian champion 16-year-old Rezoana Mallick Heena, sprinter Srabani Nanda.
