Male School Students In Delhi To Pledge To Behave With Girls: Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, announced at a Meet recently that the Delhi government schools will soon make its male students to take an oath to behave well with girls and not indulge in crimes against women.

The CM said the schools will teach the students not to misbehave with females. “We have decided that in all schools, we will get boys to take pledge that they will never misbehave with any girl,” Kejriwal said.

“We need to build moral pressure on boys that we will not tolerate bad behaviour. All the girls will also be asked to talk to their brothers, to tell them that he cannot ever misbehave with any girl,” he added.

While addressing the FICCI women’s Meet this week, the chief minister said mothers and sisters need to talk to boys that they will not accept them at home if they do wrong to women, report various media organisations.

He also spoke about other steps taken by the Delhi government to ensure the security of women in the national capital. “Across Delhi, we have installed CCTV cameras. Delhi is the first city in the world where we will install three lakh CCTVs in one go. Every nook and corner of the city will be covered. We will install more if required,” the CM said.

“Our government has decided to light up dark spots by installing two lakh street light. We have also deployed marshals on buses to ensure the safety of women,” he said. The AAP government’s move comes at a time when the entire country is disturbed and outraged by the death of two rape victims from Hyderabad and Unnao recently.

Earlier this month, Kejriwal had said in the Delhi Assembly that the government or police cannot only be blamed for the crimes against women. “We should also see what has been done to the mentality of men, boys. Delhi schools should do something to make young boys sensitive. Only the police and government cannot do this. The society should change,” Kejriwal had said.
