Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday suspended the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Swarnalata Biswas for tampering with the promotion list of the employees.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had recently directed the promotion of the eligible employees with effect from January 1 every year. Accordingly, instructions were given to all the departments to send the list of eligible employees by December 31 on the basis of their service records.
Accordingly, the DSWO had sent the promotion list. However, alleging discrepancies, some employees had taken up the matter with the higher authorities. During verification, it was found that the list did not mention the names of some deserving employees. On the basis of the report, the DSWO was placed under suspension.
