Puri: Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had ‘darshan’ of the sibling deities at Jagannath Temple in Puri on Wednesday.
She was accompanied by Puri Collector Balwant Singh.
Mamata, who is on a four-day visit to Odisha, had left for the Pilgrim Town on a personal programme after arriving in the Odisha capital on Tuesday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister B K Arukha and Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjib Chopra were at the airport to receive her.
The West Bengal chief minister had told the media that she would meet her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik on Thursday. The leaders are likely to discuss the CAA, NCR and NPR.
The Puri district administration had beefed up the security of the hotel at Baliapanda, where she is staying. She returned to Bhubaneswar after offering prayers at the 11th century shrine, the sources said.
The West Bengal chief minister will be attending the Eastern Zonal Council meeting in Bhubaneswar to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday.
