Mamata Mahanta Betrayed Odisha People For Personal Gain After Being Lured By BJP, Claims BJD

Bhubaneswar: Coming down heavily on Mamata Mahanta after she from the party, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday accused her of making the move in order to promote her personal agenda and interest.

Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar, senior BJD leader and former MP Sarojini Hembram alleged that Mamata has not only betrayed the party but also the people of the state by quitting the regional outfit.

The step taken by Mamata has created a dark chapter in the political history of the state, she claimed.

Dismissing the claims made by Mamata as baseless, Sarojini alleged that she has betrayed the party, entire Kudumi community and people of Mayurbhanj district for her own personal gain.

Stating that Mamata was elevated from district council and made Rajya Sabha member by the BJD, Sarojini alleged that she joined the BJP after being lured by the saffron party.

Attacking Mamata in same vein, BJD spokesperson said she could have just quit BJD and retained her Rajya Sabha membership. However, she stepped down from the upper House of Parliament following allurement from BJP so that the saffron party will be able to bag a Rajya Sabha seat, he claimed.
