Bhubaneswar: A day after Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra said he would resign from the post if there is evidence of his complicity in the murder of school teacher Mamita Meher, BJD leader Pratap Deb accused opposition parties of politicising the case.
Speaking to media persons, here on Saturday, Deb said though the minister has told that anybody having evidence of his involvement in the case to go to the police, the opposition parties continues to target him.
Asking the opposition parties not to politicise the sensitive case, Deb said they should refrain targeting the chief minister Naveen Patnaik who has proved several times in the past that he is above politics in such matters.
“The chief minister always takes immediate action and drops the leaders against whom allegations are levelled. He has taken such steps in the past and will take such action in the future,” Deb said.
“Everybody knows the stand of the chief minister on these matters. He has been very clear about it and passed such tests successfully several times in the last 20 years. This time also, he will come out with flying colours,” said the senior BJD leader.
