Balangir: Veteran Congress leader and eminent lawyer Narsingha Mishra has said he is willing to fight for justice in the court for school teacher Mamita Meher, if her family approaches him in this regard.
Speaking at a meeting organised in memory of Mamita in Jarasingha under Deogaon block of Balangir district, Mishra said the alleged murder of Mamita is a politically sensitive case. If it is not investigated properly, the entire state will rise against the state government, he added.
He further said as the case involved leaders and ministers of the ruling party, they will definitely try to mislead the investigation which will deprive the bereaved family of getting justice.
Stating that all the suspects should be investigated and the accused brought to book irrespective of the posts held by them, the former leader of the opposition said nobody is above the law of the land.
The 81-year-old lawyer, who represents Balangir constituency, said if Mamita’s family approaches him, he is prepared to fight in the court of law to ensure justice for them.
It may be noted that 24-year-old Mamita, who was working as the teacher in the Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling had gone missing on October 8 and her chopped body was found buried in the under-construction stadium of the school on October 19.
The president of the managing committee of the school, Govind Sahu and five others have been arrested in connection with the case.
